Accounting for almost 70% of the Group's sales, Habitat is Saint-Gobain's main market. With a unique and diversified portfolio of materials and services that improve the energy efficiency and thermal, acoustic, visual and health comfort of buildings, Saint-Gobain provides solutions for the external envelope (roofs, facade coatings, external insulation systems, insulating glazing, etc.) and the internal lining (insulation, plasterboard, ceilings, etc.). They are used in all types of new residential projects (single and multi-unit dwellings).

Plasterboard systems

An essential material for the internal finishing of buildings, plasterboard is used for partitions, wall linings, ceilings and floors. Via its Gyproc brand, Saint-Gobain provides a wide range of efficient solutions that adapt to all types of building projects: new and renovation residential buildings.

Industrial Mortars

The Industrial Mortars Activity, via the Weber worldwide brand, provides a complete range of solutions:

  • fixing and grouting of ceramic tiles and natural stones,
  • flooring,
  • technical mortars,
  • interior walls,
  • masonry,
  • expanded clay lightweight aggregates and blocks.

With deep local knowledge of its markets and extensive international experience, each year, Weber develops innovative solutions to improve comfort and productivity on jobsite.

Building with glass

Saint-Gobain Glass and Glassolutions supply glass with various properties for windows and picture windows in homes, as well as for veranda and conservatory walls, glass roofs, light wells and entrance doors.

Solar Gard films have been designed to be applied on both the inside and outside of building glass to protect occupants from the effects of the sun’s heat, glare and UV rays. They are a less costly solution for solar protection than air conditioning or blinds and awnings. Additionally, with its Armorcoat® range, Solar Gard provides security films for windows to protect occupants and property from injury in the event of breakage and to act as a barrier against breaking and entering.

Abrasives

Norton Clipper® machines and diamond tools deliver extraordinary performance in drilling and cutting all materials on building and construction sites.

In the habitat sector, plumbers, builders, carpenters, tilers, painters and decorators also benefit from Saint-Gobain Abrasives solutions.

Saint-Gobain Ceramic Materials

For habitat, Ceramic Materials provides ZirPro zirconia powders used to manufacture pigments for coloring ceramic tiles.

Surface Conditioning’s product can be used in photovoltaic (PV) and LED lighting industries: highly engineered coolant, cleaner, polishing slurry and diamond powder are important consumables in silicon and sapphire processing, which bring reduction of cost and efficiency improvement into PV and LED.

Performance Plastics

The Performance Plastics Activity gathers solutions combining material science, processing technology and design to save energy, provide protection, improve comfort and sustain the environment for a variety of industries.

Insulation

Mainly sold under the worldwide ISOVER brand, our mineral wool (glass and stone) or foam (polystyrene and polyurethane) insulation systems are designed for the residential market, both new and renovation.

ISOVER systems also include membranes for wall airtightness and the management of water vapor transfers, as well as specific frames and accessories to ensure optimum installation.

ADFORS high-performance glass fiber

The range of Saint-Gobain Adfors technical fabrics includes Vertex® glass mesh for external thermal insulation composite systems, wall coverings, FibaTape® drywall joint tapes, glass mat for thermal insulation and insect screening. In addition to its aesthetic qualities, Novelio® paintable wall coverings can include properties that help protect our health: Novelio® Clean-Air absorbs and neutralizes volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and Novelio® Mold-X contains an anti-bacterial agent that improves health safety. This wall covering is particularly suitable for patient rooms, rest rooms and unventilated areas in health buildings.
